Renewable Fashion

Neautiful concept, that results in beautiful dresses. Not sure how "real world" these are, but stunning idea. Love to see what Fernando Brízio will think of next.

Stuck in Your Teeth

Either I am REALLY hungry today, or the big food is the latest micro trend. Personally, I like the bigger than life, cartoony idea, and it does communicate well. Great use of existing spaces.

Really Good Sleep

I like the walk away with this, and the photography is spot on.

Brrrrrrrrrrrr!

Apparently in the Town of Hardin (just 300 mi north of sunny Vladivostok), one of the only ways to keep warm is to spend most of your waking hours building really amazing ice sculptures. And yes, even an ice city! Makes me want a coffee...

HP Does it Again

You can remember when Goodby brought in the original idea, hand sort of magically making computer functions happen. Now theyhave a new device to advertise, and they have brought that idea to life, even more. Thought these were definately well produced and enjoyable.

Strong Illustration

I'm always drawn (no pun) to simple and strong illustration. This is just me, but after looking @ the Comm Arts Illustration Annual, I'm feeling like the skill of drawing is becoming a thing of the past. Too much collage for me! This guy on the other hand is keeping it real in the field.

Coke-a-Cola

You must have seen this, just thought we would post this, and mention the work recieved a Silver Lion

The whole thing started with an animated spot made by Psyop for Coke and agency Wieden+Kennedy. Since launching in 2006, the original "Happiness Factory" has gone on to become the highest rated global spot The Coca-Cola Company has ever tested. The ad has won several awards including a "Silver Lion" at the 2007 Cannes advertising awards, the "Grand Prix Gold Prize" at the 2006 Epica Awards and most recently a nomination for a prime time commercial "Emmy" in the United States. This is the latest installment of the Happiness Factory.

Wall•e

I am already excited about Pixar's next release, these just get me more so. These are from Eric Tan, one of the artists at Pixar, you may recognize his work in other movies, Rattatoille, Incredibles, Monster's Inc. If your a bit more excited than I am head here for the link to buy. Me, I'll just look. There is much more to look at anyway.

Judging is Complete

As you may have guessed, we had the judges in this weekend, and they were tough. Acknowledging only the best of the best. The good news is there was plenty good to go around, dare we say, even a bit of great. Look for mailings to come, both the Award Show itself, and the Congrats messages, but hey, if you're reading this, you already know your stuff is good.

Ikea Apartment

Ikea has a long history of innovative ways to show their wares, this is the most recent, and possibly, the largest.

Floating Cities

These look cool enough for me to consider living a life at sea. And with population explosion, they may be the last possible place to move. besides, they are self sustaining.

Biomimicry was clearly the inspiration behind the design. The Lilypad, which was designed to look like a waterlily, is intended to be a zero emission city afloat in the ocean. Through a number of technologies (solar, wind, tidal, biomass), it is envisioned that the project would be able to not only produce it’s own energy, but be able to process CO2 in the atmosphere and absorb it into its titanium dioxide skin.

New Ideas in Farming

With so many building striving to be the tallest, for no real reason other than to brag, this idea seems to be one that has a purpose. Instead of building farmland outward, build it upward. Self sustaining buildings with vertical farming.

Vertical Farming, which has been discussed for years, would involve building high rise multi level “Farmscrapers” where farmers would employ sustainable farming practices in a controlled environment. Dickson Despommier, professor of Environmental Health Sciences at Columbia, and one of the true pioneers of this idea, thinks this could ultimately ease the world’s food, water, and energy crises. Despommier argues that the technology to build vertical farms currently exists and that it could be an economical and sustainable solution to a number of problems.
